How to get to Kangaroo Island

Kangaroo Island is an easy trip from Adelaide. The 2 hour journey is very pretty through the Fleurieu Peninsula with towns such as Willunga, McLaren Vale, Normanville, Myponga and Yankalilla that you can stop for coffee, lunch or just to stretch your legs. There are a few options to get to the island, depending on whether you will be bringing a car or not.

Sealink Ferry

Travellers can choose to drive their own car to the small seaside town of Cape Jervis where the 45 minute ferry to Kangaroo Island departs, or catch the Sealink coach which runs twice daily from Adelaide. Cars can be booked on the ferry (bookings are essential) or alternatively a hire car can be arranged from Penneshaw. Bookings online Sealink, or by phone 131301

Sealink also offers day and overnight coach tours which include many of the attractions of the island. Please check their website to see what is currently available.

KI Connect Ferry

KIC is a passenger only 30 minute ferry that departs from Cape Jervis and disembarks at Penneshaw. Travellers can drive their own car and leave in the secure parking area at Cape Jervis with hire cars and vans available there or from their depot in Penneshaw. Regional Express Airlines

Regional Express flies from Adelaide Airport to Kingscote. Due to recent travel restrictions these flights are limited so please check availability on their website Regional Express or by phone 131713. Cars can be hired from Kingscote airport.

Qantas Airlines

Qantas is also providing a service to Kingscote airport, Kangaroo Island from Adelaide airport and in peak times has previously flown directly from Melbourne to Kingscote. Check availability on Qantas.
